  • SEDER ANYONE?

Have any of you been to a seder/passover dinner? We had one at our church last night and it was very interesting.Seder is the traditional Passover Week Dinner celebrated by the Hebrews since the Exodus. (Exodus :12)It is the Hebrew Thanksgiving, giving thanks to God for deliverance and redemption. The seder has a specific order. We had matzo ball soup, unleaven bread, parsley dipped in salt water and horseradish with bitter herbs. You are to drink 4 glasses of wine at specific times during the dinner. We opted for blessed grape juice. Had a few teens in attendance;including mine. It was tough finishing the fourth glass...I will not be drinking any grape juice for awhile. You have to drink it all before you move on. We also had a traditional meal. I was stuffed. here is an image of a seder plate.

Most seder plates have six dishes for the six symbols of the Passover seder. These are:

The horseradish stuff nearly knocked me out..wow is it strong. Each food is representing something specific.

Bitter herbs (horseradish) reminds us of the bitterness of the slavery in egypt. Salt water tears...etc. I read Exodus 12 to Brittney in preparation for the evening.  Anyone else ever attend a seder?
